How to Prepare Your Tracks for Mixing: A Guide
To ensure your tracks are mixed to perfection, proper preparation is essential. Follow these guidelines to provide us with high-quality files, whether you're sending individual tracks or a pre-master. This preparation will help us deliver the best possible result for your music.
Preferred Formats:
WAV or AIFF are the preferred file formats. These formats retain the highest quality and are ideal for professional mixing.
Sample Rate and Bit Depth:
48kHz / 24-bit is the optimal sample rate and bit depth for mixing. If this is not possible, 44.1kHz / 16-bit is acceptable. Higher sample rates and bit depths ensure better audio fidelity and provide more detail for the mixing process.
Final Pre-Master Requirements:
Ensure that all EQ, compression, and limiting are turned off. This allows us to mix your track without any pre-applied processing that might alter the intended sound.
If creative effects are used (e.g., reverb, delay), provide two versions of the track:
WET: Includes all effects and processing.
DRY: Contains the same track without any effects.
Track Organization:
Name each track clearly and consistently. This helps in identifying the content and makes the mixing process more efficient.
File Delivery: Use a reliable file transfer service to send your files (WeTransfer, Google Drive, DropBox). Ensure that the files are properly labeled and organized before sending them.
Check Your Files: Before submitting, double-check that all files are in the correct format, sample rate, and bit depth. Make sure there are no unintended effects or processing applied.
